Da Grand Waaagh Report

Tournament Report for the Grand Waaaagh.

First off this tournament was on the USS Hornet, which was awesome. Being someone that has never seen an aircraft carrier in person, this fact alone made this a fun tournament for me.

All my games were a lot of fun, even though my record was dismal. One draw and four losses, my worst record in a tournament this year.

I will give a brief summary of the games:

Game One:
Russ - Demons.
The first round matches were completely random. Chad was nice enough not to pit LD2 vs LD2, but other than that random. Russ ran a combination Tzeentch and Khorne demon list. Two khorne heralds, two tzeentch heralds, two units of bloodletters, bloodcrushers, furies, flamers, horrors, two flesh hound units. I knew this was going to be rough right off the bat. But Gork and Mork smiled upon my dice this game, AND ONLY THIS GAME.
I pulled out a draw, never failing a single fear or panic check. I had a lone squig hopper kill his khorne herald bsb. Two hits, two wounds he gets double ones for his armor save.

-Draw

Game Twp:
Seth – Warriors of Chaos.

Strange list. Three units of 25 marauders with mark of nurgle, 6 units of 10 marauders with mark of khorne, two units of marauder horsemen, 2 units of hounds, 1 level 4 chaos sorcerer and 2 hell cannons. He used his hell cannons as assault units, never firing them just marching them at my lines. I was able to wound one with shooting 3 times before they both charged one unit. The goblins held up for three turns of combat, managing to kill off the wounded hell cannon and sticking a wound on the other. It was looking like I had it since my hoppers were eating his army, UNTILL! The unit fighting the hell cannons finally broke, panicking a unit of night goblins, which fled threw my generals unit, panicking them off the board. Yes, I failed a LD-8 re-rolled with the night goblins, then repeated with my generals units. That turned a minor win for me into a minor loss.

Minor Loss

Game Three:
Greg Hunter – Warriors of Chaos.

Greg is a great guy and this was my favorite game. Not much to say about this game, other than if it could have went wrong for me it did. I was squabbling left and right, or having lone units Waaagh right on top of fanatics. Failing three LD-9 test in a row. Basically Greg and I just laughed as my own army defeated itself.
Massacre Loss.

Game Four:
Steven – Lizardmen

Level 4 slann, skink priest, skink hero, temple guard, 2 ancient stegadons, 2 big units of saurus warriors, Terradons and skinks. Was a boring game, he sat back and used his magic phase to grind me down. I tried to advance, but I was getting shot to pieces and my generals unit squabbled 4 out of the 6 turns. I did the best I could, but I had neither the magic defense nor the hitting power to break the temple guard or the big units of saurus warriors.

Solid Loss

Game Five:
Micah – Empire.

I have played Micah before and he is a great guy and a fun game. I really need practice fighting other large armies. I rolled terrible the whole game. Example being I hit a unit of out riders 3 times with the doom diver and charged it with a pump wagon and killed 2 ! And I mean 2 with all that. That pretty much sums up my dice for that game.

Massacre Loss.

All the games were fun. It got to the point that my dice rolling was so bad, it was funny.

I thought I was a shoe in for the Dice don’t like me award, to the point I stood up thinking it was me when they announced the award. Oops, it wasn’t, some one scored lower battle points then me.

Then by some fluke I won best army?! They didn’t have a paint award just best army that was paint + comp added together. I was as shocked as everyone else. My paint score was way over what it should have been and many others got much lower than they should have gotten.

It helps to play a fluffy bunny baby seal army, but it shouldn’t help that much.
