Colonel's SAWS report..
My first round matchup was against Andrew Feliz and his skaven. In the pre-game chatter I mentioned I had chatted with his brother briefly on warseer because he had complained about QCR. Andrew's comments regarding his brother led me to believe he is nothing like his bro. Feeling charitable I parked my dragon in 4" in front of his warp lightning cannon round 1 and allowed him to shoot GrapeDrank with a S10 6 wound splat (picture the lightning cannon from District 9). It was a fun game despite his passing every terror test, from that first Ld5 with the warp lightning cannon through the next 8 as my hydra ran around innefectually trying to scare rats. I managed to neuter all his shooting but couldn't take him in combat without my dragon. Andrew is a nice guy and good sport, my second best game.
2nd round was against a VC player that lost his every game at SAWS. It wasn't an effort to kill all but the black coach by turn 4 when he called it quits. I prefer a close game but at least he was a good sport about it.
3rd game was Ed. I siezed a turn 2 opportunity to charge my dragon into the flank of the ghouls that had all 3 characters in it, and master on horse into the front in contact with only vampires. Ed refuses the challenge by dragon as it is sure death of a vamp, so lord goes to the back. My master on horse survives the attacks by the 2 lesser vamps, and I drop 3 st & attacks on the BSB, manage only 2 hits despite hatred, and roll a 1 to wound so BSB lives. His death would have lessened his magic phase by enough I could have likely killed the general much sooner or prevented soem of the magic moves that lead to ghouls coming in my dragons flank and corsairs flank before they could join that battle. My bad shooting on the other flank caused it to collapse, hydra eventually died to wraiths. I killed all the vamps but BSB in turn 4-5? but lost combat by 1, and my dragon fled off the board, rolling a 10 when needing a 9. With the dragon alive I would have surely pulled a draw, but was slaughtered. I tanked this afro-distended-anus pondering douche delivery boy's sports and comp for his obvious cheating, abusive breath, and threatening agressive drooling.
4th game was Andrew Macananey, a barbarian, DE player with corsair theme. I had a huge advantage with the dragon, so threw away a corsair unit with assassin first turn, making it an even match. Its bloody till the end, where in epic defiance my dragon stands alone on the 500 point objective flaming entire units to death. He ends up able to get 4 models on the objective and takes it, but I made him work for the win. A fun match and he got my vote for best game. I'll get my revenge..
5th and final game was a sad lizard player. This win was as challenging as when I had a puppy with parvo and took it out back to shoot it but it died just before I pulled the trigger, and about as fun. He showed up 15 minutes late and looked shell shocked by the beatings he must have taken over the previous days, and didn't seem interested in small talk. I know this game killed my chance at best sports, the only thing I was in contention for with my poor record.
It was a fairly fun event, down to the end where me and Dono split the pot on the charity dice off.
I would advise Mark add one subjective question to the sports questionaire, like maybe rate this game on a 1-10 scale, then only give a +1 if it is a 8-10. I also dislike any scenario that lets people deploy over 12" up unless they are dwarves, or gives 500 points for a single objective.
