Army Lists
Army lists are to be submitted to derekwiswell@comcast.net.
Army lists are due by February 15, 2006. You may change your army type up until the army list submission deadline. Late lists will be penalized composition points. Army Builder printed lists are preferred.
Cancellation Policy
Also note that as we run this thing on a shoe-string budget and have many fixed costs, we have a limited ability to issue refunds. If you do have to cancel out on us, please let us know as soon as possible!
Cancellations at least two weeks prior to the event will receive a refund equal to half the amount they paid for registration.
Cancellations closer to the event than this will not be refunded. We're sorry it has to be this way, but by that time the money will have already been committed to one of the various event expenses!
Pre-Registration Target Reward Program
Update: We have hit our goal, prepare for free beer and free mugs!
If we hit our pre-registration target of 60 players we are going to reward those players with a special event. If we hit this goal all pre-registered players will get one Leadership 2 beer mug for FREE. On Saturday night we will bring in one or two kegs of beer and all those who have Leadership 2 beer mugs will have full access to the kegs for FREE. This is our way of saying thanks for pre-registering. This will last until the beer runs dry. Beer will still be available for purchase from the canteen/bar during this time for those who do not have Leadership 2 beer mugs. For players who want additional beer mugs or for players who want mugs but did not make the pre-registration deadline you will be able to purchase your Leadership 2 beer mugs after the keg(s) run dry for $10.00 each (supplies are limited).
Army Size and Games
Your Warhammer armies shall not exceed 2250 points. This will be a five round tournament.
Army Restrictions & Rules
The general rules for the Warhammer tournament are straightforward. You must use the same army for each game. The 6th edition set of rules must be used. Furthermore, players should know that this tournament is for fun; and that poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated.
You must create your army using the appropriate 6th edition Warhammer Armies book, Ravening Hordes, or the most updated “official” lists in the Warhammer Annuals or Chronicles. “Trial Rules” and Appendix armies are not permitted.
Your army does NOT have to be painted but must be fully assembled. Fully painted armies are encouraged (and you will not be able to gain painting points if you army is not painted).
You must bring a 2,250-point force using the standard 2,250-point force restrictions.
What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG). If a model is armed with an item, it must be shown on the figure. Models for army list choices that are not available must be converted. If you are in any way in doubt about whether your conversion or scratch built piece might not be acceptable please call us before the tournament. We don't want someone to show up with something they can't use! This tournament will have a painting score so painted models are recommended. You may use non-Games Workshop models in this tournament.
You may NOT use Special Characters. Note that this includes any Regiment of Renown consisting entirely of characters (and any mounts they may have). EXCEPTION: Dogs of War armies may use DoW special characters.
The most current rules clarifications from the Warhammer Annuals, Chronicles and White Dwarf will be in use.
Revised Lores of Magic: The revised lores of magic will be used and can be download in PDF here.
SOC Slayer Armies: For slayer armies the SOC book shall be used for everything except for runes. The runes from the new Dwarf army book override the runes presented in the SOC book.
Ogre Kingdoms Rhinox Cavalry: Ogre Rhinox cavalry may be taken as Dogs of War units as per the rules located in White Dwarf (you can also click here for the PDF version). The IronSkin Tribe list is not allowed.
Gut Magic and Rhinox Riders: For this tournament, none of the unit augmenting Gut Magic spells (Bull Gorger, Toothcracker and Trollguts) can be cast upon Rhinox Riders.
You must conduct yourself in a manner that will not bring our hobby into disrepute.
You must bring all materials needed to play including dice, measuring device, templates, models, and any rules that you will be using.
Bring at least two copies of your army list, preferably typed. Hand written army lists are difficult to read and this increases the chance of scoring errors.
The Lustria army lists may be taken but must NOT include their special characters (the requirement to take them is removed).
Scenarios
Leadership 2 is committed to rigorous playtesting of our scenarios. Please note that these scenarios are still in playtesting so minor changes may occur. Feel free to provide feedback to Jay White. We do realize that no matter what we do we can't make everyone happy but we are committed to minimizing the devastating effects that some scenarios can have on armies.
Scenario 1: Coastal Fog
Scenario 2: Heat Wave
Scenario 3: Earthquake
Scenario 4: Governator
Scenario 5: Tectonic Flux
By no means is the above order representative of the order in which the scenarios will appear at the tournament.
Composition Scoring
The composition score is worth a possible total of 30 points.
The army Composition score will be a result of both player and judge input. There are five composition judges that review each army list. The army lists they get do not have any names on them so they do not know who's army they are judging (player IDs are used to track player's lists). Each judge will assess each list on a four level scale. The four level scale is fluffy, normal, hard, and over the top. Each list will be marked at one of these levels. Each players opponent through each round will also grade the composition of your army on the same scale. Here are some general guidelines for each level:
Fluffy (3 pts): A list that even an experianced player would have trouble winning
with, but would most likely have fun playing.
Normal (2 pts): An average list with a balanced mixture of strengths and
weaknesses.
Hard (1 pt): A list obviously meant to be competitive, with the strengths of the
army utilized, and the weaknesses avoided.
Over The Top (0 pts): A list which is unbalanced in such a
way as to make playing against it unfun and tedious. A "broken" list.
Each of the five judges will rate your army on this scale to produce a possible 15 points. Each of your five opponents will also judge your army on this scale at the end of each game for a possible 15 points.
Battle Scoring
The battle score is worth up to a total of 100 points. After each battle player's will count up there victory points, subtracking the lower score from the higher, and compare the result to the following table:
| VIctory Points | Result | Battle Points |
|---|---|---|
300+ |
Victory |
16 |
0-299 |
Draw |
12 |
N/A |
Loss |
8 |
Each scenario will have a possible 4 bonus battle points awarded on top of the above score based on meeting scenario objectives.
Sportsmanship Scoring
The sportsmanship score is worth a possible total of 40 points.
For each game you play you will rate your opponent based on the following:
Outstanding Opponent (6 pts): This game was fun and regardless of the outcome we both had a blast. These games don't happen all the time.
Average Game (4 pts): This game was about the average game of Warhammer that I experience.
Below Average (2 pts): This game was certainly below average for what I normally experience. Rules problems without easy resolution, etc.
Ouch (0 Pts): This game was horrible. It was everything for me to hold back wanting to physically harm the person I played. Never again!
In addition to the points above, each player will select one of the opponents that they played through the course of the tournament as their favourite opponent. For each
favourite opponent vote a player receives they are awarded an additional 2 points.
Paint Scoring
The painting score is worth a possible total of 33 points (3 of those points are bonus). Two painting judges will score each army on a 15 point scale as detailed below. The two scores are added together to get the total score out of 30. The display base bonus is applied to the score only once.
Not Painted (0 pts): The army is assembled but completely (or darn near) unpainted.
Partially Painted (3 pts): The army has unpainted models but at least half of the models are finished to at least Standard Quality.
Standard Quality (3 pts): Figures are painted similar to the “how to paint” sections of Games Workshop army books. This quality can include a single coat of ink, drybrushing, or layer of highlights. Bases are painted or have a basic sand approach or all static grass.
Here are two examples of standard quality: example 1, example 2.
Tournament Quality (3 pts): Figures are painted using several layers of highlights and shading and/or clean black-lining. The models look great on the battlefield and there is a consistent theme of colours used throughout the army. Some conversions have been made to a few models and are apparent when the army is displayed. The bases are sanded, painted and drybrushed with static grass (or snow, what ever matches the army’s theme).
Here are two examples of tournament quality: example 1, example 2.
Fine Detail Quality (3 pts): This is "Games Workshop" quality (the Evy’Metal team, not the regular staff), many of the figures features in the White Dwarf and boxed set covers are painted to this standard. Several layers are used to blend, all combined with well executed detail work. Scenic based with debris, sand, etc. bring the army together. A very clear theme that is well tied together is very distinguishable. Figures painted to this quality are often giving Best Painted awards.
Here are two examples of fine detail quality: example 1, example 2.
Master Class Quality (3 pts): Models are pampered to the max. The models are painted to a master class level; meaning tattoos, unique cloak designs and script work, etc. A lot of conversions have been done; some models may even be mostly sculpted putty. Armies painted to his quality would have several units capable of winning Best Regiment/Single Model awards. Painting just does not get any better than this.
Here are two examples of master class quality: example 1, example 2 (they would be played without the large display base).
Display Base Bonus (1-3pts): If your army includes a display base (it must be large enough to fit your army onto) it can be worth bonus points for your paint score. Display bases will be judged to be either Tournament Quality, Fine Detail Quality, or Master Class quality. Tournament quality display bases are worth one bonus point and are very basic; mostly being used to just transport your army from table-to-table and give in a common display area (a flat board with a hill or a couple of trees). Fine Detail quality display bases
are worth two bonus points and are meant to tie the theme of the army together even more (a castle background with extra conversions, bodies hanging from the wall, etc.). Master Class quality display bases are worth three bonus points. They are really works of art and not only tie the army theme together but in conjunction with the army models play out a scene in front of you.
Awards
The general guidelines for the awards may change slightly but will be very close to what is currently listed. Awards will be given for the following categories:
Best Overall: Awarded to the player that has the highest combination of scores from all categories..
Best General: Awarded to the player that has the highest combination of the battle and sportsmanship scores..
Best Army: Awarded to the player that has the highest combination of the composition and sportsmanship scores.
Best Painted: Awarded to the player that has the highest painting score.
Player's Choice: Awarded to the player that receives the most votes for player's choice.
Snake-eyes: Awarded to the player that has the lowest battle score combined with the highest sportsmanship score.

For information on other hotels/inns click here. For information on other non-label (not part of a hotel/inn chain) hotels/inns click here. If you do choose to stay at a location that is farther away it is worth mentioning that you will be in downtown San Francisco and it is easy to get to the venue quickly via cabs (which are plentiful in the downtown area). This is the one area where we will improve on next year.
There are many restaurants in the area of Fort Mason (including four that are on-site). In addition to the restaurants we will be offering a bar/canteen service at the venue as well as our "order ahead" program. In addition to the list below there is also a Safeway located right across the street from the entrance to the Fort Mason Center.
Canteen/Bar Service
There will be a canteen/bar on-site at the venue. Breakfast food, sandwiches and various snacks/soda will be available. We will be selling breakfast items (pastries, etc.) and regular drinks (water, soda, etc.). We will also be selling beer to all players that are 21 and over. We should have some wait staff present to also take beer/canteen orders from you while you are busy crushing your opponent (tips appreciated).
